OVER 270 people were nominated in this year’s Pride of Jersey awards – and Islanders can now start voting for who they think are the most deserving winners.
Organised by the Jersey Evening Post, the initiative is now in its tenth year and aims to recognise individuals or organisations that go the extra mile for their Island community.
In each of the 13 categories, the three nominees with the most votes will become finalists. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges from those shortlisted and will be announced at an awards ceremony on 15 October.
Each winner will be presented with a prize worth £1,000 from their category sponsor at the event, which is being held at the Royal Jersey Showground this year.
The ceremony will also see the Gary Burgess award presented to a community champion, with the winner chosen by members of the media and the late broadcaster’s loved ones.
James Filleul, who is the chief executive of JEP parent company All Island Media, said the tenth anniversary awards are set to be “the best yet”.
“The number of nominations this year is testament to the amount of truly special people we have in this island – most of whom don’t look for any particular recognition,” he said.
“It’s so easy to forget what we have here in Jersey, but Pride is a chance to remember why we all choose to call this our home.”
Pride of Jersey 2025 is supported by joint main sponsors DFDS and Jersey Post.
Tomorrow’s newspaper will features a supplement showing all nominees to help Islanders choose their community heroes.
Voting is open at prideofjersey.com until 11:59pm on Sunday 21 September.
