ISLANDERS shouldn’t be surprised if they spot Jersey’s most famous detective out and about over the next few months…

Those behind the new Bergerac TV show have said that filming for series two will be taking place in the Island “soon”, in the wake of successful location scouting.

Commissioned by BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV, the first season of the long-anticipated reboot – offering a “contemporary twist” on the popular 80s detective drama created by Robert Banks Stewart – launched in February on U and U&DRAMA.

Filming for a second series is expected to take place across Jersey and Devon from this month to October.

Visit Jersey chief executive Tricia Warwick has previously said the organisation was “excited to see even more of our Island’s stunning landscapes and unique locations featured in series two”.

And Jersey Hospitality Association co-chief executive Marcus Calvani recently told the JEP that Gorey and the Havre des Pas Lido were set to contribute to the “obviously Jersey, external wow shots”.

Westward Studios Executive Producer Brian Constantine said that location scouts had been in the Island for around a month.

“Scouting has gone very well in Jersey and we are looking forward to starting filming here soon,” he continued.

“We are grateful to Islanders for accommodating the team and are excited to showcase Jersey to the best of our ability.”

In April, UKTV revealed that the new Bergerac had become the second highest rating programme on U&DRAMA, with 1.8 million consolidated viewers tuning in for the first series.
