A CARE home resident has thanked Islanders for their kindness and generosity after being inundated with 500-piece jigsaw puzzles following an appeal in the JEP.

Susan Millow (née Cooley), who is 81, said the response had been “absolutely brilliant”.

Mrs Millow got in touch with this newspaper last month asking if people could spare any unwanted jigsaws.

She said piecing them together with her friend Betty (90) was their “main source of pleasure” but they could not afford them.

At least 100 jigsaws have now been delivered to Maison La Corderie in Green Street.

Mrs Millow said it was “incredible the amount that we have received”, adding: “We haven’t had two of the same.”

“People have been absolutely brilliant and we are so thankful,” she said, describing it as a “typical Jersey response”.

Since the appeal was put in the paper, Mrs Millow joked that her phone had been “red hot”.

And they have received so many jigsaws that they have given some to other care homes as they do not have enough room to store them all.

It will take the pair some time to piece together all the jigsaws.

“We will never be bored again,” said Mrs Millow.
