A LOCAL hotel and pub is hosting a closing down sale ahead of shutting its doors early next month.

Islanders are invited to head to the Oaklands Lodge Hotel and the Blacksmith’s Arms in Trinity from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 October daily at 9am to 2pm.

Ahead of its closure on 9 October, the hotel hopes to sell its kitchen equipment, tables, chairs, curtains, carpets, bedroom furniture, linens, heaters, fans and more.

‘Otherwise we will have to dump them all,’ said Norberto Berenguer, the manager. ‘Everything has to go before we close.’

He explained that people can offer what they think is appropriate on the spot, and negotiations will progress from there.

A planning application to demolish Oaklands Lodge Hotel and replace it with a 40-bed care home is currently pending.

Dandara has applied to demolish all existing buildings on the site, which includes the Red Rose restaurant and Blacksmith’s Arms.

The two-storey property, which was built in 1971, currently has 16 beds, including ten suites and four one-bedroom apartments.

The plans also include a car park of 20 vehicle spaces, four motorcycle spaces, and 16 cycle spaces, and the construction of a bus shelter on Route de la Trinité.
