JERSEY Met has issued an ice warning for tonight.

The yellow warning – the lowest level of alert – states that the temperature is expected to fall below freezing and ice could form on untreated surfaces.

It states: ‘The air temperature is expected to fall to 2°C tonight, with ground temperatures falling below zero degrees in places.

‘With some clear periods and winds gradually falling light, some icy patches are expected to form on untreated surfaces.’

The warning follows two days of severe weather, during which dozens of trees were brought down by severe-gale-force winds and at least 20 homes were flooded.
