ISLANDERS are being warned about a Facebook scam where fraudsters pretend to be stranded in Ukraine.
The States police were recently contacted by a local bank after an Islander attempted to transfer $50 to someone who had befriended them on Facebook Messenger and claimed to be a Ukrainian needing money for a taxi.
Please be warned about a Facebook messenger scam where the fraudster befriends the victim and pretends to be from the Ukraine in need of money for a taxi fare.

In a tweet, the force said: ‘Please be vigilant in these uncertain times and if you believe you’ve been a victim of a scam, call us on 612612.’
