Fire crews were called out to the fire near St Brelade’s Church around 9pm, advising Islanders to avoid the Le Marquanderie area while they extinguished the blaze.
The fire service said on Saturday they were investigating the cause, and that ‘a number of stored products from businesses who occupy the site were on fire following its spread’.
In a Facebook post, JFRS said that no one was injured and the fire was quickly brought under control. They said ‘fantastic inter-agency working’ had been displayed by their emergency services colleagues, including States of Jersey Police and Jersey Ambulance Service, for assisting with the incident.
Three fire engines and 17 JFRS personnel attended, as well as one specialist water carrier, according to the fire service, with the scene covering an area of around 10m x 20m.
