Condor may buy new ferry following review

The operator, which has faced increasing questions over its contingency plans since replacing two fast ferries with the Liberation last March, is carrying out a comprehensive service review to analyse its routes, its timetabling, including whether there are sufficient day-trips, and whether the overall service would benefit from a new vessel.

The review – being carried out in conjunction with the States of Jersey and Guernsey – is expected to be completed by the autumn.

Paul Luxon, who took over as chief executive at the start of this month, said that the review is considering what, if any, changes are needed to ensure Condor provides the best possible service on the ‘complex’ routes it serves, however, he stressed that any purchase of a new vessel would not happen anytime soon.
