The Senator, whose political portfolio includes oversight of competition, innovation, and the digital and finance sectors, has outlined his commitment to ensuring that legislation works transparently and, wherever possible, to lower prices for consumers.
Last week the operating lease for the Fuel Farm was renewed for another ten years and rival suppliers claimed that, because the contract had not been put out to tender, competition was being stifled, potentially leading to higher fuel charges.
Fuel wholesalers Rubis will continue to operate the facility, but under the terms of their new agreement could face serious penalties, including having the lease cancelled altogether, if they breach the competition law.
