This is the third year that the event has been held at the Simon Sand and Gravel Quarry in St Ouen.

This year competitors could choose from four categories – cadets (9 to 15 years), trooper (16-plus),trooper team (three people) and hero (18-plus), which covered eight to ten kilometres.

The event was held to support Autism Jersey and the target was £2,500, and this year there were new obstacles to navigate, as well as the traditional water slides, barbed wire and walls.

This was also the first time that the cadet race was held for youngsters, which covered two kilometres.

Organiser Sean Kinsella said: We know there are plenty of people who have just trained hard for the Jersey Marathon, so we invited them to come and have some fun and experience adventure racing.’

Autism Jersey fundraiser Beth Gallichan, who also took part in the challenge, said: ‘We cannot think of a more awesome challenge to get Islanders pushing their limits for our cause.

‘The funds will provide support services to both children and adults in Jersey with autism, estimated to be more than 1,000 people, as well as their families and carers.’
