• Thousands attended countryside show on Saturday
  • Perchard family’s open day was such a success that it could become a regular occurrence
  • Visitors got to see the inner workings of La Ferme farm

THERE will be more open days at Jersey’s largest dairy farm following the success of a countryside show on Saturday.

Thousands of people visited La Ferme in St Martin and enjoyed traditional countryside activities, including tractor and trailer rides, farm tours and nature trails as well as fairground rides and live entertainment.

They also got to see the inner workings of the farm and meet its cows, as well as other animals including rabbits, a sheep and a rooster.

Rob Perchard, who runs La Ferme, has said that he will be looking to do it again, although he is unsure when.

He said: ‘It was a brilliant day with great interest in everything we put on, particularly the dairy tours.

‘It was great to see everyone there with smiles on their faces.

‘The whole day was a resounding success and we are going to have a debriefing session with all the helpers because it does take a lot of organisation.

‘But we will definitely do it again.’

The open day was held to raise money for Cancer Research Jersey and CLIC Sargent and was organised by the Perchard family together with Rotary Club de la Manche, the RJAHS and Jersey Dairy.
