And the president of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, David Warr, says that the Chamber seems to be the only body that has been questioning economic numbers released by the Treasury.

Earlier this week Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf gave a clear indication that ministers could be forced into a rethink of spending plans if economic recovery plans are downgraded.

The Chamber of Commerce has been something of a lone voice in calling to question previous public sector spending projections based on growth in income receipts.

Mr Warr said that the warnings from the Treasury Minister mean that the need for the States to focus more acutely on cost reduction had become clearer than ever.
