Responding to the news that the scheme’s introduction will be delayed until 2014, Deputy Kristina Moore says that the delay should allow ministers to rethink how it will be paid for.

The long-awaited scheme is expected to dramatically reduce the amount that the elderly have to pay for long-term care by providing payments to anyone who has lived here for ten years.

It has been designed to stop elderly people being forced to sell their homes and part with their life savings to pay for care.
