The draft planning guidance on how the site in Tunnell Street could be redeveloped has been released for public consultation by Environment Minister Rob Duhamel.

Planning and Environment chief officer Andrew Scate said that the main proposed use of the site was for residential.

‘We could build between 100 and 150 homes – a mixture of apartments or town houses,’ he said. ‘It is a big site. We could go quite high there.’

The release of this site – which includes land occupied by the gas holder together with the Jersey Gas offices, showroom, stores and accommodation – for development is dependent upon the relocation of the Jersey Gas operation at Tunnell Street to land at La Collette, where it already has an existing facility.
