In the JEP’s Saturday Interview, Senator Philip Ozouf explains why he makes no apology for their fall-out which led to Mr Ogley leaving with a £546,377 golden handshake.

The minister says he is as appalled by the pay-off as anyone else, would not have paid it and was not involved in discussions which led to it being put into Mr Ogley’s contract in 2005.

However, he says he understands why it was paid and believes the departure of the former top civil servants was an important step towards creating a new, more constructive culture at the highest levels of government.
