Cann recovers after slow start

The 32-year-old, who won double Commonwealth Games bronze last October, had to come from a game behind to advance through her first round match against New Zealand’s Michelle Chan Ky 16-21, 21-13, 21-11.

Chan Ky, ranked 70th in the world, stormed into an early lead as Cann appeared slumbersome in her Monday morning encounter.

But the world number 36 seized the initiative in the second set and eased into round two of the London 2012 Olympic test event where she will face tenth seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk today.
