Jersey crush Guernsey in Gilson

Inflicting one of Guernsey’s heaviest defeats on home soil in the history of the competition, the Reds won the men’s doubles section 8-1, lost the ladies’ 6-3 but a dominant performance in the mixed brought them a 21-9 victory.

Team manager John Burns said: ‘It was a brilliant result and it was all down to an excellent team performance as everybody played out of their skins.

‘We were without the likes of international players such as Elizabeth Cann and Solenn Pasturel, but in a way it was nice to prove that we could win it without them.’
