Hedge fund Altis Partners (Jersey) Ltd are injecting a five-figure sum annually for three years enabling Will Golder and brakeman Kevan Crowell to compete for Great Britain as GB4 in the forthcoming eight-race Europa Cup.
Fellow club members Jenny Acton-Phillips and Alex Park, for the second time, and newcomers Jo Matthews and Brian Walshe will also be assisted as they head to Lillehammer in Norway next month for the annual ice camp.
The JBC’s season was officially launched yesterday at Government House by the Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, who first challenged Islanders to produce a team as had Jamaica, the island that set the standard for flat ‘non-ice’ countries to participate in the sport.
