They will all be out to emulate the success of club colleagues Ian Blandin and James Ramsden who finished top British crew last year when they finished seventh at San Remo in Italy.

JRC’s Paul Coutanche, who has co-ordinated Jersey’s entries into the World event, said: ‘Everyone is continuing to work hard towards the championships and after this weekend it will be a case of tapering down a little in preparation for the Championships between 23 and 25 October.

‘Personally I’ve been training hard since January and I know all the other crews have been putting in a lot of work too.

‘Ian and James are not taking part this year because Ian has recently had a knee operation and I’m hoping someone else will take up the baton and emulate the fantastic achievement of last year.’
