This call has been echoed by Senator Stuart Syvret, who yesterday resigned from the Bailiff’s consultative panel in protest over Sir Philip’s tolerance of the offender’s membership of the honorary police.
Following the sentencing of former St Helier honorary police officer Roger Holland last week for sexually abusing young girls, the father of one of his victims said that Holland should not have been allowed in the force in the first place.
Yesterday Sir Philip issued a statement, saying: ‘I have served the Jersey public for more than 33 years. During that period, I am sure that I have made mistakes. But I have always sought to behave with integrity, which I believe to be the case in this matter. I have no intention of resigning over this issue.’
