The session was adjourned halfway through a speech being made by Senator Syvret in his capacity as Father of the House. Instead of conveying the usual Christmas greetings, he used the occasion to continue accusing the authorities of massive failure in child protection standards and covering up decades of child abuse.

The sacked Health Minister ignored several instructions to stop his tirade before the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, adjourned the sitting as he was still speaking and other Members left the chamber.

When a Deputy confronted Senator Syvret on his way out, he clenched his fist and shouted at him.
