There were hopes of an all English semi-final in the ladies $25,000 event later today, but that went out the window with No 3 seed Naomi Cavaday going down 6-3, 7-6 to France’s Sabine Lisicki.

The latter’s reward is a semi-final spot against O’Brien, who beat Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic with a tie break in the second set.

Biggest talking point was 16-year-old Croatian Petra Martic’s 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 victory over world ranked No 167 German Angelika Bachmann.

She will face No 4 seed Julie Coin, ranked 201 in the world, in the last four today, after the French girl progressed when Poland’s Sakowitz retired injured.

O’Brien made it a good day by also reaching the Ladies semi final with partner Georgie Stoop.

Polish player Dawid Olenjniczak, the No 4 seed, pulled off a surprise victory over Italy’s Massin Dell’Acqua to reach the final of the men’s $15,000 tournament, winning in impressive fashion 6-1, 6-2.

He will face No 6 seed Frederic Nielsen in the final at Les Ormes this morning, the Dane have had the harder task of disposing of Ladislav Chramosta, of the Czech Republic ,7-5, 3-6, 6-2.

David Brewer and Ian Flanagan from GB go through to the men’s double finals after defeating compatriots Bamford and Rushby 6-2 7-6 and they will meet Durek from Australia and Olejniczak from Poland who beat Goodall and Skupski in the other semi final.

The men’s final is this morning, the ladies final tomorrow, both 10.30 am.
