Jet2.com will operate a direct service from May next year using 737s with a daily flight on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Prices will start at £28.99 one way, including taxes. Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean said that the deal with the airline was good news and is a result of the Airport’s efforts to secure new routes. He also said that the deal does not involve a subsidy, like that being paid to Bmi to fly between Jersey and Heathrow. ‘This is a great result for Jersey, having secured an agreement with this well-known low-cost airline,’ he said. ‘The marketing strategy is now reaping the benefits and we look forward to announcing similar agreements in the future. ‘Looking at the increasing arrival figures from regional airports it is clear that there are real opportunities for Tourism in these areas and I am sure this link will be successful and warmly welcomed by both visitors and locals alike.’
