Airline to begin Paris service

Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean confirmed that agreement had been reached with the airline, which is chaired by Guernsey resident multi-millionaire Derek Coates, to fly services to Paris Beauvais. An official announcement was expected from the airline today. Deputy Maclean said that although the route qualified for the new route incentive arrangements there was no direct cash subsidy being given to the airline – unlike the three-year deal done with with Bmi to operate the Heathrow route. It is understood that the incentive to Blue Islands is lower Airport charges. Deputy Maclean said that he was delighted that Jersey would again have a direct link to Paris after a gap of about a decade. Last year Flybe tried to strike a deal with the Island authorities to start flights but could not reach an agreement on the level of subsidies.
