CYCLING – Firby in gear: Commonwealth Games cyclist Sam Firby won the Jersey Cycling Association’s 10-mile time-trial from La Mare slip to Gorey and back yesterday.

Seniors:, 1, S Firby 21.35; 2, James Amy.

Vets: 1, Michael Harris 23.54; 2, Dave Mayman 23.54.

Ladies: 1, Jim Davis 26.08; 2, Helen Goulding.

Juniors: 1, Robert Coutanche 24.45; 2, Stephen Haley 31.46.

SURFING – Jersey surfers in form: In this weekend’s Hunter British Schools’ Championships held in Woolacombe, North Devon, Will Glenn won the 15-year-old’s Longboard event while Bradley Ferguson was second in the under-14’s.

Phil Le Neveu finished second in the U18 bodyboard event.

Meanwhile in the first of the British Longboard Union contests held in Perranporth, Cornwall, Grace Davies came fourth in the ladies’ event and Gordon Blake and Joe Davies both finished third in their quarter-finals.

Gerard Aygun was knocked out in the second round, he finished third in his heat and in the juniors James Vautier was third in the semi-finals and Cole Jouanny was knocked out in the first round.

MOTORSPORT – Duo impress in France: Bruce Dingle and Mick Bertram were racing in the French Qualifying over the this weekend.

Dingle qualified for the finals after coming 12th in time training in the 650 cc class.

In the finals he finished 13th and 15th in the first two races and came 18th in the super final.

Bertram just missed out on qualifying for the finals, crossing the line in 42nd but bounced back to finish fourth in the A-Final of the 450 cc class.

BOWLS – Inter-Insular defeat: In the JIBA’s Inter-Insular and CI finals, Jersey lost the ladies’ event by 18 shots while the men lost by 79 shots.

Jersey won the open fours 18-8, won the U18 singles 21-18, won the O60 singles 21-19 and won the open pairs 20-15.

However, they lost the TSB Mixed pairs 23-22, after an extra end, lost the U35 singles 21-10, lost the married pairs 35-7 and lost the open triples 20-10.

GOLF – Hampshire 7s: Jersey Western Golf Club beat Les Mielles 4-3 in the Hampshire 7s event at Les Mielles yesterday.

Results: M Fitzgerald, JWGC, won 4&3 against K Fitzpatrick; S Monins, JW, won 1up against S Fitzsimons; N Plain, LMGC, won 3&1 against P Walters; M Hesford, JW, won 4&3 against A Porter; G Stubbs, LM, won 5&3 against R Palmer; P Aitkins, JW, won 3&1 against J Moniz and P Horgan, LM, won 2&1 against P Patterson.

MOTORSPORT – Mills takes chequered flag: Jersey rider Charley Mills took podium honours in the small wheel 85 cc class in the Brittany Moto-X Championships held in Plousane over the weekend.

Jersey riders supported the Championships in a variety of classes with Mills winning both races in his class.

SAILING – Cutting Edge success: The rearranged races three and four of the RCIYC’s Hobie Fleet Spring Series were held in St Aubin’s Bay yesterday and Darren Stower sailing with Mike Winspear on Cutting Edge picked up two A Fleet wins.

Gordon Burgis and crew Kenny Snell were second racing Pure Energy while third was Grant Neale and Karen Larose.

In the B Fleet, Steve Duquemain was first over two races with Kate Lambert second.

GOLF – April Stableford: David Freeman, 17 handicap, won the Les Ormes Golf Club’s April Stableford yesterday with 40 points while Mark Sumner, 10 hcp, was second on 40 and Derek Rogers, 9 hcp, third on 39 points.

SAILING – Voodoo Doll wins: Simon Benest and Sean Fellows’ Voodoo Doll took the win in the opening race of the St Helier Yacht Club Lloyds TSB Coastal Series 2007.

Abracadabra, Rhys Perkins and Bob de la Haye, were second; The Dogs, Allen Brown, was third and MicMac was fourth.

GOLF – Trout Trophy: Richard Kemp won the Wheatlands Golf Course Trout Trophy Stableford on Saturday with 40 points and saw his handicap decrease to 10.

Marcel Le Claire was second, 16 handicap, on 36 points and Steve Hind, 28 handicap, third on 32 points.

SHOOTING – Langley shoots to success: The first stage of the Jersey Rifle Association’s Kolapore Trophy was held on Sunday in ideal conditions at Crabbé’s Range.

Walley Langley was first with a total score of 105.15, second was B Horwood with 105.14 an third was C Cotillard with 105.11.

GOLF – Michael Scott Cup: Renzo Martin, 12 handicap, won the Royal Jersey Golf Club’s Michael Scott Cup Stableford on 46 points no Saturday.

Daniel Scriven was second, 21 hcp, on 45 points with Stephen Rafferty third, 5 hcp, on 43 points.

GOLF – Les Mielles grab win: Les Mielles Golf Club beat Royal Jersey Golf Club 5-4 in an inter-club match held at the Royal Jersey Club on Saturday.

SHOOTING – Bourne to be high gun: Brian Bourne took the High Gun honours in Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50 Bird Sporting Practice yesterday with 43 ex 50.

William Coom won the A Class with 39; Adrian Fox won the B Class on 38; Howard Durrell won the C Class on 35 and John Bedford took the win in the Veteran class on 34.

SHOOTING – Satchwell fires to victory: Tony Satchwell beat 15 other members of the Modern and Military Arms Association to the K Le Monnier Memorial Trophy on Saturday finishing on 75 points.

Mark Douglas was second, 72 points, and Richard Honeycombe third.

GOLF – Beeley’s double top: Ian Beeley, 13 handicap, won the Demi Golf Society B Concannon Trophy on Saturday with 37 points.

Beeley’s son Craig, 7 hcp, was second on 36 points and Kenny Mitchell, 6 hcp, third on 35.

GOLF – Jubilant James: Returning a total of 42 Stableford points, James Gibaut won La Moye Golf Club’s Pallot Trophy on Saturday at La Moye.

Andy Clarke and Bob Wickings took the next two places respectively after scoring 40 points.

GOLF – Osment Cup: Jean Rebours and Mick Allchin finished their Matchplay doubles 1-up to beat Peter van der Niet and Sean Kavanagh in St Clement’s Golf Club’s Osment Cup yesterday.

The A/C Medal was won by Trevor Robinson.

GOLF- Ming’s Dynasty Trophy: Dave Belo, 9 handicap, won the Ming’s Dynasty Trophy Stableford at Les Mielles on Saturday with 43 points.

Alan Maclean was second, 9 hcp, on 41 points and Jon Cattell was third, 18 hcp, on 39 points.
