One measures 305 cm from end to end and, according to an inscription on the back, was shot by Capt G H Stevenson of the Nepalese Rifles. The other is slightly smaller and measures 272 cm from head to tail. The guide price for the lot, which includes both skins, is between £1,000 and £1,500. Senator Syvret, who presented a 2,500-name petition to the States calling for the importation and sale of animal furs to be banned, urged Islanders not to bid for the tiger skins.
