Although the hosts have two new caps in their team, Guernsey have one, Jersey currently have the lower handicappers with five members of their team playing off scratch or better.
Jersey selector Rob Leader said: ‘I’m confident the team will do well, we have a lot of experience and the lowest-handicapped team we’ve ever had.
‘Every year I say we have the lowest handicaps ever and this year we have five who play off scratch or better.’ Channel Islands champion Paul Le Chevalier plays off plus-2, Gavin O’Neill, James Birch and Richard Ramskill off plus-1 and Richard Alker and Christy McLaughlin off scratch.
Leader said: ‘It will be a tight match, home advantage plays a big part and I’m quietly confident about Jersey chances.
‘Guernsey had a fantastic team spirit last year and we’ve worked hard to match that this time.
The team has had several sessions together working on the partnerships for the four ball and foursomes matches while tomorrow night we’re getting together again to talk about the match over an evening meal.
‘All of the players have been consistent in their performances this summer and hopefully that will continue on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.’ Former Island seniors champion Geoff Ramskill and Andy Clarke feature for the first time along with Trevor Gray, who appears for the 31st time, and Matthew Parkman.
Guernsey’s junior island champion Jack Mitchell (17) makes his début at the level while David Nicolle and Muratti footballer Danny Bisson have won recalls.
Other Guernsey golfers are Bobby and Andy Eggo, David Rowlinson, Mick Marley, Danny Bisson, Dave Warr, Steve Mahy and Nigel Vaudin.
The match, at Royal Jersey GC, starts with five four-ball matches at 1 pm on Saturday.
On Sunday the five foursomes matches begin at 8.30 am followed by ten singles matches at 1.15 pm.
