At the first Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited sponsored Multi-Events Day Jersey’s athletes picked up no less than ten of the 14 prizes on offer by the sponsors.
The competition required each athlete to take part in a run, a jump and a throw with points being awarded for each to arrive at the individual winners.
Local hero Dale Garland opened proceedings by bettering the Guernsey 110m hurdles record, albeit with a barely legal tailwind.
After this the blue vests dominated the afternoon.
Two of the best individual performances came in the high jump.
Jenna Murphy first of all topped Claire Lidster’s long standing under-13 girls’ record with a super jump of 1.49m.
Later Simon Phelan once again bettered his own Channel Islands record by clearing 2.08m.
On the track Lauren Thérin produced an excellent 13.5sec 100 metre run behind Bath University athlete Jennifer Christie, but the run of the day was by Rory Forrest who clocked 12.4sec in the under-15 boys’ competition.
Amy Dingle and Stephanie Le Ruez battled it out in the under-13 girls’ sprint hurdles with Dingle winning by a fraction.
Young Rebecca Houze gamely took on a couple of older Guernsey girls in the 800m and produced an excellent run of 3.05min.
As expected Jersey dominated in the throws with Nicole Goddard producing a big PB in the shot with a distance of 8.41m.
