The NatWest Weekend and Evening League champions are playing in the final of the Senior Cup, which begins at 1.30 pm at Grainville.
Standing in their way are Caesareans who, after a disappointing season, will no doubt be determined to restore some pride.
Despite missing former Island captain David Gorman, Caesarean – and current Island – captain, Meeku Patidar, is confident his side can cause an upset.
‘It would be fantastic to walk away with some silverware after what has been a pretty mediocre season,’ he said.
‘We only finished fifth out of six in the league, purely because we had a difficulties with player availability, but Caesarean is such a good club and we all enjoy our cricket, on and off the pitch.
‘We’re also in the final of the plate so we’ve got two opportunities to win something – and hopefully we can get a tangible reward for our season in these games.
‘Following OVs, Sporting Club and other teams, we are also becoming less reliant on one or two key players and we have some great young talent – like Danny Bertram, Paul Gales and Mark Whitsey – coming through.
‘And all have the ability to chase a total or knock one down, so I’m quietly confident for tomorrow.’ For Sporting Club, Matthew Hague is back from Australia to captain the side, which is missing Ben Silva this weekend.
‘But we have such a strong side we’ll be fine tomorrow,’ said Hague.
‘We’ve won the league this year, the evening league and the JEP Cup and we’ve still got a chance in the CI Championship so hopefully we’ll have a good collection of trophies by the end of the season.’ OVs take on Old Codgers in the Plate final at the FB, also with a 1.30 pm start tomorrow.
