The CI won by 61 runs with Dennis hitting 74 while opener Paul Robson and Guernsey’s Steve Birkett both supported well with 41s.
The CI closed their allotted 45 overs on 233, for the loss of five wickets, before then restricting Dorset, who were previously unbeaten, to 172 for 7.
Dennis said: ‘It was an excellent victory and another good all round team performance and fortunately I had a very good day too.
‘We’re equal top now and looking to maintain our good form today away to the Isle of Wight.
They have not won any games but we will not relax because of that.
We will be focused; I want us to be at the top of our form again and record another win.’ Dennis said the bowlers were all economical yesterday with Guernsey’s Ralph Anthony the pick of the bunch with one wicket for 15 runs in nine overs, including three maidens.
Dennis struck 74 runs off 74 balls, his half century coming up after facing 52 deliveries.
Dennis (one 6 and nine 4s) featured in a second-wicket partnership of 96, at just over five-and-a-half runs an over, with Robson (seven 4s).
Birkett’s innings included three 6s while Greg Sykes chipped in with a late 24 not out.
Sykes took an excellent catch to dismiss Dorset’s Mike Nurton, their leading run-scorer, while Birkett also grabbed three wickets in a seven-ball spell.
The CI are strengthened in their batting today with Jersey’s John Taylor replacing the injured Mike Kinder, the latter who will be rested and hopefully back for the CI’s final group match of the season away to Wiltshire on Wednesday.
