In a thrilling semi-final against No 5 seed Sara Persson of Sweden – who had knocked out second-seed Petya Nedeltcheva of Russia – Cann won the opening game by 11 points to five but in the second Persson adapted to Cann’s quicker style of play to win 11-7.
A number of unforced errors at just the wrong time resulted in Elizabeth being beaten 11-4 in the decider.In her opening match of the championship the Jersey player had beaten Line Isberg of Denmark 11-3, 11-4 and in the second round she defeated No 8 seed Santi Wibowo of Switzerland 11-3, 11-2.In the quarter-final, Cann saw off no 3 seed Miyo Akao 11-8, 11-2
