The 90-year-old won the monthly award following her performance in winning the second round of the St Clement’s Cup early in the month with an excellent four-under-par 59 therefore reducing her handicap by two shots.Mrs Wilson, who was told of her success by the JEP yesterday, said: ‘You’re joking, nobody has told me.
I’d completely forgotten about that round as I’ve played a lot since.’It was very nice at the time, yes I remember now I played steadily for a change.’I really shouldn’t be winning awards at my age, I’m past it now.
I play for a bit of fun and hopefully I can continue to do so for a long time yet.’I really have no hope of winning things these days and to get this award is a big bonus for me.’The monthly winner receives a magnum of Champagne and two cut-glass goblets.Numerous other golfers were in contention for September’s monthly award.Royal Jersey’s Gavin O’Neill, an ex-professional, was the best player in Jersey’s inter-insular golf defeat by Guernsey where he collected two points out of a possible three.
O’Neil won the JW Messervy Trophy on his home course at Grouville with an eight-under-par total of 132 after rounds of 65 and 67.He also lifted the Royal’s Club Championship with a gross 140 (72 and 68), after winning a four-hole play-off with fellow Island golfers Paul Le Chevalier and Christy McLaughlin.The other three nominations received were all members of Royal Jersey.

Michael Le Feuvre, off five handicap, excelled with a net 63 to win the first competition in the Autumn Meeting, the Club Cup, while Guy Gothard won the Theatre Cup with a net 64 off five handicap.
