Loaded with Built Ford Tough and Ford Performance DNA tech, the new truck boasts 210 bhp and 500 Nm of torque from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine.
The beefed-up version of the UK’s best-selling pick-up truck was revealed in Thailand earlier this week, where it will be built. The Raptor has been developed by Ford Performance and includes a host of upgrades over the standard model, taking the car to ‘new extremes’, Ford claims.
From the outset the improvements are clear to see. Standing at 1,873 mm tall, 2,180 mm wide and 5,398 mm long, with wider front and rear tracks at 1,710 mm, Ford has bulked up the Raptor to make it tougher for high-speed, off-road adventures. Ground clearance has also been increased to 283 mm.
The inside of the Raptor has been kitted out with special seats – designed to be as comfortable at high speeds off-road as on the morning commute – and sat-nav that tracks off-road driving.
Now Ford dealers and customers are petitioning the manufacturer to bring it the UK.
Currently the truck is only being sold in Asia, but Ford is producing it in both left- and right-hand drive.
