Parking war may be at root of St Helier vandalism campaign

Since November, 29 incidents of malicious damage have been reported to the States police – all within a few hundred metres of each other at La Pouquelaye.

Three members of one family have fallen victim to the damage while one woman’s car was vandalised ‘horrendously’ on the same street opposite Manor Park Stores.

Officers believe ‘one or two’ offenders are responsible for all of the estimated £10,000 worth of damage and added that they suspect residents who are angry about parking issues could be responsible.

It is understood that some residents have clashed over designated parking spots and commercial vehicles taking up large areas of space.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the States police on 612612 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
