Grouville backs move to cut speeds in village and on coast

The proposed changes, which would have to be approved by Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel, would see the section of coast road between La Roque and Grouville garage be reduced to 30 mph, while Gorey Village would become a 20 mph zone.

Parishioners who attended a parish assembly last night voted almost unanimously for the principle of reducing speed limits along the coast road, with just a solitary hand being raised to keep the road at its current limit of 40 mph.

As both roads are owned by the States, the Grouville Roads Committee can only make recommendations to the Infrastructure Department about what changes should be made to speed limits.

About 60 people attended the meeting, which was chaired by Procurer du Bien Public Peter Falle.
