Ministers give Condor two weeks to sort out service

After seeking legal advice, Harbourmaster Captain Phil Buckley has sent a letter to the beleaguered ferry firm formally asking it to set out how it intends to remedy what he describes as ‘breaches’ to the agreement.

And on Wednesday Chief Minister Ian Gorst and Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham are due to meet the directors of Macquarie, the Australian investment bank which owns Condor, and the ferry firm itself, to discuss the recent issues the operator has faced.

Senator Farnham said that he wanted to ensure that the Channel Islands had a shipping line that was ‘fit for purpose’, adding that he believed that this was the first time the Harbourmaster had formally written to the ferry operator regarding breaches to the operating agreement.
