WORKERS removing bits of broken trees has become a common sight over the last few weeks, as the Island continues the recovery from Storm Ciarán.

But back when this picture was taken health and safety was not what it is today and motorists were allowed to drive by while the work was being carried out.

The work here was being undertaken in the grounds of the Hotel Magnolia at Millbrook in November 1961.
