A MAN already serving a 15-year prison sentence for sexual and violent offences has had a further term added to his sentence after threatening to stab a woman in St Helier.

He was sentenced for one count of threatening conduct committed prior to his sentencing for the sexual offences.

Aaron Trafford Stringfellow was sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday afternoon after being previously found guilty at trial of threatening conduct.

The incident happened near Poonah Road on 24 February, more than three months before Stringfellow was sentenced to 15 years in prison for separate offences in June – which included four counts of rape.

The court heard that Stringfellow followed the woman down the street and shouted that the next time he saw her he would “stab her”.

A driver who saw the incident described the woman as “distressed and frightened”, the court heard.

Advocate Chris Baglin, defending, said there had been “no physical contact” and that his client was already serving a lengthy custodial sentence.

Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke, presiding, said Stringfellow had shown “no remorse” and had not taken responsibility for his actions – including having pleaded not guilty to the offence.

He sentenced him to seven months’ imprisonment, to run consecutively to his existing sentence. A three-year restraining order was also imposed.
