She claims she has never wanted to have a sexual relationship with a man and couldn’t even face kissing her own father. The abuse allegedly happened over 40 years ago.
The jury in the Royal Court also heard the complainant claim that she tried to tell her father of the alleged abuse by Lester Charles Quenault (78) when she was a young girl but he did not believe her.
Crying and shaking as she gave evidence, she said: ‘I said he had been doing things to me. He [her father] said: “What do you want me to do about it”?’
Mr Quenault, who used to run a donkey ride business on Gorey Common and was known as the Donkey Man, denies 27 counts of historical sexual abuse against two pre-teenage girls. Six of the counts relate to the alleged rape of one of the young girls.
Under cross-examination Advocate Mike Preston, defending, put it to the woman that she was making up the claims because she wanted to benefit financially from a confiscation order if his client was found guilty.
‘I have not even thought about it,’ the woman said.
Advocate Preston put it to her that a detective had given her a compensation form and read out a text the woman had sent to the officer asking her for help in filling the form out.
‘You were not abused by Lester Quenault at all were you?,’ Advocate Preston said.
‘Oh yes I was,’ the woman replied. The trial continues.
