JERSEY REDS went top of the Championship table after scoring seven tries in a 41-31 victory at Nottingham – two of which were scored by young Jerseyman Harry Doolan.

Two early scores, from Ryan Olowofela and Steven Longwell, set the platform for the Reds on Friday night before Nottingham responded, but a further two touchdowns steered them to a 22-12 lead at the break.

Doolan – the first Jersey-born player to make a Championship start for the Reds since April 2015 – scored twice off the back of rolling mauls; his second try coming three minutes into the second half as the visitors flew out of the blocks after the restart.

A spirited Nottingham were always in the game, scoring three tries of their own in the second period to take it down to the wire.

Ultimately, Jersey were too strong, though, and finished the game with a try at the death from replacement back-row Wesley White.
