Dry, warm weather and two technical courses made for an exciting day of racing, with stream crossings, steep climbs, and fast descents challenging riders across all age groups.
Under 8s
The youngest riders took on ten action-packed laps, crossing the stream twice per lap.
Loic Burton led from the start and, despite a couple of crashes, held on for the win.
Newcomer Jacob Dollimore impressed with skill and a strong ride from the second row to finish second, and Riley Renouf showed great consistency to take third.
Olivia Collins was the only girl and finished tenth overall, taking the girls’ win.
Under 10s
With just two riders in this category, they joined the other age groups but showed great determination. Solly Cabot took first place, with Finlay Belcher close behind in second.
Under 12s and 14s a longer, more technical 15-lap course with the inclusion of two log obstacles to navigate awaited the older riders.
Alex Le Sueur got the holeshot and led the race throughout to win overall and top the Under 12s.
Maverick Bull pushed hard early on and finished 2nd, with Freddy Picot completing the U12 boys’ podium. Lia Romero rode strongly to finish 3rd overall and take the Under 14 girls’ win, while Evan Osmand rode a steady race to finish fourth overall and take U14 boys’ top spot.
The next event in the series takes place on Saturday 17 May.
