JERSEY Cricket is proud to announce a new sponsorship agreement with international law firm Walkers.
This partnership marks a significant investment in the future of women’s and girls’ cricket across the island.
The partnership will see Walkers become the official sponsor of Jersey Cricket’s girls’ pathway, supporting the Lionesses Junior Performance Programme and the Walkers HERA Legacy Programme.
This collaboration represents a shared commitment to developing opportunities for young female cricketers and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the women’s game in Jersey.
The Lionesses Junior Performance Programme serves as Jersey Cricket’s high-performance pathway for girls, featuring squads selected to represent the Island across three key age groups.
The programme is designed to nurture talent, provide elite coaching, and prepare players for progression into senior representative cricket.
In addition, the Walkers HERA Legacy Programme, established in 2025, focuses on grassroots development through club cricket.
The initiative currently includes three local clubs that are actively building junior girls’ sections at Under-12 and Under-15 levels.

The programme forms part of a broader vision to establish a strong and sustainable foundation for women’s and girls’ club cricket in Jersey for years to come.
Speaking on the partnership, Jersey Cricket chief executive Sarah Gomersall said: “This partnership with Walkers is a significant step forward for girls’ cricket in Jersey.
“We share a commitment to creating more opportunities for girls to participate, develop and thrive in cricket, ensuring they have the same chance to fulfil their potential as anyone else in the game.
“We are extremely grateful to Walkers for sharing our belief in what girls’ cricket can become in Jersey.”
In response to the statement, Walkers said: “We are pleased to announce we have signed an agreement to act as title sponsor of the HERA Legacy Programme and exclusive sponsor of the Junior Girls Lionesses Pathway in Jersey.
“The partnership supports girls’ cricket from grassroots participation through to representative squads, including the HERA Lionesses, Lionesses Development Squad and Lionesses Performance Squad.
“The HERA Legacy Programme has been created to introduce girls aged seven-to-15 to cricket through club training and summer fixtures, providing an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages social and competitive participation.
“From there, as players develop they will be able to progress through the Junior Girls Lionesses Pathway, which has been designed to support skill development and age-appropriate coaching as players develop.
“This sponsorship reflects our long-standing commitment to Jersey and to building meaningful, long‑term partnerships in the communities in which we operate.
“By working closely with Jersey Cricket, we aim to support the successful introduction of initiatives that create accessible opportunities for young girls, while helping to foster the sustainable development of the women’s and girls’ game on the Island.”
Fraser Hern, head of Walkers Channel Islands, added: “Supporting the communities in which we operate is fundamental to how Walkers works, and this partnership with Jersey Cricket is a strong example of that in practice.
“The introduction of the HERA Legacy Programme and the Junior Girls Lionesses Pathway is designed to create new opportunities for girls across the Island to get involved in cricket, develop their skills and, for some, progress further within the sport. We are pleased to support an inclusive initiative that is firmly rooted in Jersey.”
James Turnbull, partner and CSR committee member at Walkers Jersey, said: “This sponsorship is about creating more opportunities for girls to play cricket in Jersey.
“The programmes that have been developed by Jersey Cricket have been designed to support girls from their first involvement at grassroots level through to development and performance squads.
“The Junior Girls Lionesses Pathway aims to provide clear opportunities for progression and high-quality, age-appropriate coaching, and will hopefully help to produce the next generation of players for the Jersey team.
“We are pleased to be supporting Jersey Cricket as these initiatives are introduced to help grow girls’ participation and supercharge the growth of girls’ cricket in our community.”
This sponsorship underscores a shared ambition to grow the game at all levels, from grassroots participation to elite performance, and to create a legacy for future generations of female cricketers.
