THE Evelyn Partners Jets produced the highest team points tally and the highest margin of victory of the season in Premier League 3 as they dismantled Leeds Athletic 76-39 this afternoon at Oakfield Sports Centre.

After producing their highest scoring game last time out against Hatfield Hawks – a 64-39 win away from home – the Jets went even better to give their home fans a performance they’d never forget.

After the coaching staff admitted they were asking the players for higher levels of accountability and responsibility in recent weeks, the Jets again flew out of the blocks into a 7-0 lead and never looked back.

The speed, agility and fitness on display looked a miss-match from off. The ball moved like the wind, matched only by the movement of the players, leaving Leeds bruised and shell-shocked at the end of the first quarter 24-7 to the good.

That score extended to 42-18 at half time, a brutal scoreline considering the 47-44 Jets win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season in Leeds.

There was no let up in the second half. The changes came, but the rhythm remained the same. One could be forgiven for thinking the Leeds offense were not making the right runs, but full credit has to go to the Jets’ defensive shape and positioning.

At the end of Q3, Rosie Tonner and her teammates were 60-27 to the good and as the full-time buzzer sounded, they had returned a record win for the season, bettering that of title rivals Ryland’s previous highest score (a 75-48 win over Worcester Reds).
