IQ-EQ is excited to announce its sponsorship of the Inter-Island Yacht Race, one of the Channel Islands’ most prestigious and historic sailing events.
First held in 1964, this iconic race between Guernsey and Jersey has become a key fixture in the islands’ sporting calendar.
The 60th edition of the race is set to be held this year, with over 50 entrants and more than 200 sailors expected to compete in what promises to be an exciting and competitive event for both participants and spectators.
With over 400 employees on both islands, IQ-EQ has a strong presence in Guernsey and Jersey and the firm is delighted to support the continued success of this iconic race.
As part of the sponsorship, IQ-EQ will collaborate with the Guernsey Yacht Club and St Helier Yacht Club to help ensure the event’s seamless execution and support the region’s vibrant maritime heritage.
Mirek Gruna, IQ-EQ’s regional chief commercial officer for the UK, Ireland and Crown Dependencies, commented: “We’re delighted to sponsor this premier sailing event as it perfectly highlights our collaboration and synergy across our Channel Islands teams.
“We’ve a long-standing history in both Guernsey and Jersey so being in a position to sponsor such an iconic local sporting event is the perfect fit for us.
“I look forward to being part of this event and bringing our two teams together to join in with the celebrations.”
The race’s rich history is highlighted by the fact that only once, in 1982, has no boat finished the race.
With more than 200 sailors expected to participate this year, it’s sure to be an exhilarating spectacle for all involved.
