OLD VICTORIANS will meet Nondescripts in the final of the SE Guy Memorial Trophy on Friday night, having both eased through the semi-finals on Monday.
Facing Walkovers Warriors, OVs put in a devastating batting performance to win by a gaping 40 runs in the 12-over competition. Jack Stevens might have gone for duck on the very first ball but Robbie Forrest (41), George Moore (53 ret.) and Matt Webb (31 not out) helped OVs to a tally of 133 off just off 76 balls, with Walkovers only being able to muster a reply of 93, despite the best efforts of James Robertson (40 not out).
In the meantime, Nondescripts (formerly Nedbank) chased down their target of 90 set by Chirpy’s Chiefs with more than an over to spare, mainly thanks to an unbeaten partnership of Chris Bysouth (16) and Tim Peach (29) and some particularly loose bowling with 22 extras conceded by Chirpy’s.
