Cricket: Jenner set for first-class debut

JONTY JENNER is set to make his first-class debut on Wednesday as Sussex contest a four-day match against South Africa A at Arundel.

Since joining the county side's academy in 2015, the 19-year-old Jersey player has made several appearances as 12th man for the first team and has played regular second team cricket for the past two seasons – but he is relishing the next four days after being named in Sussex's 11-man squad.

'It's obviously exciting,' said Old Victorian Jenner. 'It's great to be given the call-up for what is a good fixture. It's a really good chance to prove myself against some other youngsters from South Africa and sort of gauge where I am.'
