The Islander, released by Northern Mystics earlier this year, was named in the newly formed club’s ten-strong squad this morning – and is joined by England colleague Jo Harten.

The eight-team league, which includes three new teams alongside the five that featured in the now-defunct ANZ Championship, begins in February and is set to offer players greater overall benefits than ever before. Each club will have $675,000 to spend on their ten contracted players, leading to an average salary of $67,500 a year.
