Double delight for De Sousa

On Monday, he starts his bid for the World Champion of Champions lawns bowls title in New Zealand. – and today he was named in Jersey’s Commonwealth Games team for the Glasgow 2014 .

The 22-year-old, who will compete in the Champion of Champions tournament in New Zealand next week, is among a team of ten lawn bowlers to be selected to represent the Island at next summer’s Commonwealth Games.

All those selected, whether team members or reserves, have reached the demanding qualifying standard set by Bowls Jersey and the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey.

The Island has had a lawn bowls team competing at 11 previous Commonwealth Games, but has not won a single medal, despite achieving the highest honours at other world and national events.
