The Falklands have been encountering difficulties of getting their firearms through Miami which may mean they are not able to get their equipment to Bermuda.

Jersey pistol shooter Nikki Holmes said: ‘The Falklands have been having problems, but I now believe all the paperwork has been sorted out but they’ve still requested that we have our guns on reserve in case anything does go wrong.

‘It would be a great shame if the competitors reach Bermuda and they have no guns to use so it’s only right that we look to help them out.’

‘I’m happy to loan mine, the only thing that requires changing is the grip and the Falkland Islanders are bringing their own grips with them.’

Air rifle shot and smallbore team manager Richard Bouchard said: ‘We will help out if we can.

‘If we’d have been asked earlier we could have taken some more equipment but at this late stage all the paperwork has been done.’

‘We’ve a strong squad all round and we have a chance of returning with some medals.
