The Islanders, who have already done enough to stay in the Championship for a second season, lost away to Cornish Pirates by 24-28.

They have the consolation of a bonus point for four tries and finish 11th in the table, with the Pirates finishing sixth.

Today’s game was like others this season, with Jersey leading at half-time (17-6), but failing to match their strong first half in the second.

Pirates gradually closed the gap and were leading 28-17 before a final try and conversion by Jersey in the dying seconds of the game brought the score to 28-24 and gave Jersey a bonus point.
